The absolute perfect kite surfing location in Fiji is located off Nananu-I-Ra Island between the two large Fijian islands of Viti Levu and Vanua Levu.

This is the area nominated for World Heritage listing by the World Wide Fund for Nature and featured in National Geographic magazine. The Bligh Water is world famous for the diversity of marine life and aquatic ecosystems that they offer. Some of the best examples of soft and hard corals on the planet are here. See turtles, dolphins, sharks, rays and even whales on a daily basis.

WHEN TO GO?

Our Kite surfing Season is similar to the Windsurfing season, however due to the nature of larger Kites being available, we offer Kiting all year round! Our dedicated Kite Trips during the months of April - October offer solid Trade winds and a group environment where you can mix with other kiters from all over the world. We offer Level 2 IKO Instruction during these months, guaranteed to improve your kiting from our instructors. Join us for the other months of the year and enjoy some private beaches, cool conditions and the relaxed way of life in Fiji.

Warm trade winds...

We usually focus on "Kite Point", kiting immediately in front of Safari Lodge - Ellington wharf, in the windy passage that funnels between the mainland and the islands adjacent to Ellington Wharf. This offers the best wind and steady conditions. We may opt to kite from directly in front of Safari Island Lodge, on the white Sandy beach on the island, as the map shows, however this location is only good for experienced Kiters...(we have a long ladder on standby to retrieve your kite from the top of the coconut trees!). This Safari Island Lodge beach provides a great location for intermediate or experienced Kiteboarders, however our preference is the Sandy point - Kite Point. The Windy Season is from April - January. The quieter months of Jan to April provide good kiting however the trade winds are not as strong. Experience 10-20 knots during the off-season and 15-30 knots during the trade Season: May - Dec, is windy with consistent warm trade winds.

Dedicated Support boat included...whew!

Safari Island Lodge operate 10 boats in Fiji and have a dedicated 23ft Yamaha Kitesurfing Boat with driver...The dedicated staff operate the support boat and will make sure you've looked after. Having a support boat means you can fill it with food, drink and your daily needs....and just kite to your hearts content! Very safe too!!!

HIRE EQUIPMENT / INSTRUCTION:

We teach Kitesurfing, following the IKO guidelines. Instruction is available at $395 for 6 hours (min 2) or $580 for 6 hours private and can be taken over 2, 3 or more days. Kite hire is included in lessons however is not available for Hire until a Lesson Program is completed. Kite Hire is $150/day everything complete.

Kite surfing gear is included in all lessons packages. If you are not taking lessons, you must bring your own equipment. If you require Hire equipment we can suggest retailers where you live that could assist with gear prior to departure.

BRINGING YOUR OWN EQUIPMENT:

Your Kiteboarding baggage has been pre-approved for travel - so there are no hassles (Air Pacific are again supporting our Holidays with a limited baggage waiver). Safari Lodge has a range of selected Kites for use in the Kite School whilst providing lessons.

SAFARI ISLAND LODGE

Upstairs Private Room with Balcony: Offering views of the Sunrise, this Queen room has a private large Wooden Deck with external stairs for direct entry. The inside floors are wooden with white painted walls. Louvre glass windows offer sea breezes straight into the room. The Ceiling Fan provides cooling if required. There is a comfortable table and chairs on the deck for guests use. An internal door into the second private room is another internal access if booked by 2 couples. Both upstairs rooms share a common bathroom at the lower level.

Beachfront Bures: Consisting of a queen and double bunks, this is suitable for a couple or family. All traditional Fijian hardwood floors and walls, raised 2m off the ground makes this Bure spectacular! Private bathroom facilities, large front and rear decks and just 15m from the beach...paradise. The cool S.E. breezes + ceiling Fan provide plenty of airflow...Rest on your balcony on your Lounge Chairs or stroll onto the beach...Enjoy a Hot Water shower . . . modern facilities . . . 

Ocean View Villa: Located hilltop with breathtaking views. 2 bedrooms, kitchen, large deck, fan cooled. (PHOTOS NOT AVAILABLE YET)

• The balance of trip package is due 60 days prior to arrival. If you cancel your booking < 60 days prior to departure the deposit is non refundable.
• Cancellation within 60 days may forfeit your balance of monies paid unless we can fill your place on the trip.
